Ive got a brilliant idea what to do with them, starting with the latest batch of them at Kilhey Court hotel.
Make the scroungers earn their keep by finding them work potato picking, sweeping the streets, cleaning the parks out, cutting the grass in the town, clean the canals up etc. Just make sure they have to get out of their hotel bed at 7.00am every morning and don't give them any mango juice which is on the menu in Standish. Give them a full English breakfast, strictly no halal. They will either eat it, or starve.
They'll soon get fed up and hopefully catch the next dingy back where they came from

Chesh I like that approach but I would suggest, no full breakfast, A slice of toast then all out doing work as per your plan then, do bawt lunch but have a communal evening feed of, pey soop from a large pon , with a
'when its gone its gone' policy then, no tellys, lights out at 10 pm and no heating or hot water, cold showers only,

I'm a very tolerant person.
But enough is enough now with all the freeloading, asylum seeking scroungers who have nothing to contribute to our country.
If the government whether it be Labour , Tory etc allow this to continue, its only a matter of time before it all ends in tears

Your not seeing the full picture Whupsie, Tonker is contributing to the Spanish economy by, Paying for Land, buying goods from them and paying for services, He's also spending money in the local shops and farms for produce and day to day essentials, He gets nowt from the Spanish Gov't but loads of red tape making his venture harder than it should be, there is no comparison at ALL,,

"does that go both ways tonker ? . do they send our back from spain ? ."

Whups, on top of what Tomplum has pointed out up theer ^^^^, the answer to your question is as follows -

I'm allowed 90 days in Spain in any 180 days.
If I stay for over 90 days, theoretically, they can frog-march me to an airport and send me back to the UK, expelled!

If I've already been there close to 90 days in the last six months and I arrive at the airport or seaport, they won't let me in. They'd send me straight back. It's been done!

A friend, from Leigh, ex-police, stayed for 94 days last year. At the airport (Barcelona) he was taken into an office and told he couldn't come back, to ANY schengen country, by any transport means, for another 6 months. Banned from entry!

So, yes, it works both ways!

As i have said before my sister lives in Spain Full time !! i will repeat what she told me that all the english who had places to live in spain had time to get there paper work in order and driving license before the 90 day rule came in.... And they were arrogant about the rules as it did not apply to them i remember them saying "they will not get rid of the english they need us" well surprise surprise they dont!!! tonker

I wouldn't mind staying at Standish Kilhey Court for a few weeks, full board with no utility bills to pay. I would even eat the halal food whilst its free. It looks a very nice and relaxing place to stay.

Whupws, what you're asking isn't clear.
As far as Spain is concerned, like the UK, they signed the UN treaty - The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration - also known as The Marakesh Agreement.
What I'd like to know is this - Why one rule for the, so-called, 'Third World' countries and a different one for the British?

Peter Israelite-ah! Yes, UK nationals (not the English), who had been living in Spain, permanently, for a certain length of time, had the chance to take up Spanich residency, if they wished to do so.
Fine. I didn't wish to do so. Because, Spain won't let you have dual nationality, it's one or the other. You have to sign away your British rights and become a full-time Spanish person. I'm happy enough going over when I want to and vice versa.
Don't be thinking I'm surprised at anything you've said there about the British "they need us" attitude. I already know about it. The truth of the matter is, they think most British are arrogant. They know that they are better off than us, better lifestyle, better food, better health system, better social code, better police. Those I speak to regularly have told me, they wouldn't live in Britain for a gold pig!

PS., I have nothing against Jews. Jesus, the founder of our way of life, was a Jew. I know a couple of them and they are decent folk.

I'm being hypothetical here.
But, If I got a dingy to France, Germany, Spain, Albania, Afghanistan, Anywhere in Africa etc to get myself a better life, would I be able to claim asylum, and whilst I'm waiting be put in a salubrious hotel on full board with no utility bills to pay, and all my laundry done?
And also at the end of the day, would they grant me asylum?

Julie

I think if you were living in Spain before the withdrawal agreement which I think was 2020 you could get residency

Chesh., you could claim that your mother's statement, regarding your dad having "run off wi'a blackie" has caused you to suffer from 'race dysphoria.' I'm sure that would qualify you for payment of one type benefit or another. A disabled blue-badge at least!

Peter, what did your sister "not need to do"?

From a site on the net - 'After 5 years of legal residence, foreign nationals can apply for a permanent TIE in Spain, and this does not need to be when the original residency card has expired.
If you have been resident in Spain for more than 5 years, you will be issued with a permanent TIE that is valid for 10 years'.
'The new TIE will be valid for a period of 5 years and you will be allowed to leave Spain for up to 6 months without losing your residency. '
'UK nationals who received a green residency certificate in Spain before Brexit can exchange their paper document for a foreigner's ID card. This card is the Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero – the TIE card. '

If your sister has permanent residency, she's Spanish now. If she has a TIE card (or a green sheet) she's still British and a foreigner in Spain.

Is she in Catalunya?

Well, of course, I know that. And so was my comment.
My gran used to say the same to me when I was little.

Me, "Gran, where's me mum"?

Gran, "Her's run off wi'a black mon"!

She was the same Gran who had the budgie that could say "Liverpool Bus"!

Is she in Catalunya?

Here's another bit from a Spain immigration site -

"A long-term residency permit (TIE) is not Citizenship.
Once you have obtained Spanish citizenship, you are considered a Spanish national and no longer a citizen of the UK in the eyes of Spain. As such, your British identity documents and any associated rights do not apply in Spain."

I've been told the best way to be is 'under the radar'. Once you start 'applying for stuff' you leave yourself wide open for autonomo payments (€289 a month) and tax.
